Powerful software, cheap electronics, and imagination seem to be all working together to make automated homes within reach for most people. You don’t have to be a Bill Gates to live in a home filled with technological wizardry.
But with the available technology, what can the ordinary home owner do to automate his home?

Nothing Really Fancy . . . Yet
Don’t expect a Jetsons home just yet. You might be disappointed. Still, what home automation can do is pretty cool. The most amazing feature of home automation is that it allows you to control and interface with various appliances in the house using any smart device connected to the internet.

Fifteen years ago, the concept of eco-friendly washing machines simply didn’t exist. Back then, with technology innovating the way we washed, most of us were far too preoccupied with all the latest programs and features to concern ourselves with saving electricity or water.
Nowadays, manufacturers have a very different take on all this. With the entire world more tuned-in to the notion of working with, rather than against the environment, the less water that can be wasted, the more money that we can save along the way.

I am happy that the weather is getting better now. Last week was so hot that I was not able to do a lot in our garden. I should be cutting dried plants and grasses but was not able to do it due to the very hot weather. I just can’t stand working in our garden last week.

Historically, a weathervane was used with one primary objective in mind, namely, to know the direction from which the wind blew. This was particularly important for the farmers, fishermen, sailors, and people in the navy and army. The list included all those people whose daily lives and activities were largely influenced by the wind direction. Even at the beginning of the twentieth century, farmers counted upon their first-hand experience and local knowledge to understand what wind conditions could mean and what their implications could be.

Wow, such a sunny day we are having right now! I would love to work in our garden but it is just too hot outside. I heard over the radio that the temperature today ranges from 30- 34 degrees Celsius. Too hot to work outside. Two weeks ago, the weather was rainy and many towns and cities near our area were flooded. I believed they are happy with the weather now because their houses that were flooded the other week are slowly getting dry now.

Oak furniture is some of the most sought after home furnishings around, and there are a number of reasons why. Not only does oak furniture ooze class and style, but it also adds an element of history to your home, as well as depth. It really depends on what style you’re going for in your home. Oak furniture can be incorporated to almost any layout or vision, and even modern furniture designs can be made of oak.
One of the best things about oak furniture is that it is timeless, no matter what the piece. It’s a strong and sturdy wood that can attach itself to a variety of styles, and it can last for generations if it is properly maintained and treated. Even the most expensive mahogany isn’t as strong as oak, and there are some beautiful grains and colours you can achieve if you carve the wood in the right way. No matter what style or piece of furniture you make, a piece of stunning oak will never go amiss in a home.

I received a message from a friend in FB inviting for a lunch in a Greek restaurant last weekend. One friend is leaving soon and we wanted to have some time for her that day. In short, the girls met at the Greek restaurant nearby. I was quite hungry when I arrived there because it is past 12 noon already. We were busy that time due to kitchen renovation. So far, that was a wonderful get together with everyone. The foods we ordered also tasted good and the ladies had fun chit-chatting.

Two weeks before that, we already called the furniture store that we will be picking up our new kitchen set. It was sitting in the store’s storage for a month already. I could still remember when we saw a flyer last January featuring kitchen set that were on sale. We did not wait too long and went to the store and asked about the set we wanted. It normally cost $6,000 but was on sale at 60% cheaper.
