Gladiolas in Our Garden

This is one of my favorite flowers in our garden. These are called gladiolas, also gladiolus, gladioli (plural) or sometimes called the sword lily. I hope to see these flowers again next year.

Have a lovely week to all and a happy and safe celebration of Thanksgiving to our American friends!

Wild Flowers on the Walking Way

We always see wild flowers on the walking way. This is true especially during summer season. Since Autumn is coming now, most of the wild flowers are slowly gone. The beauty of nature always wonders me….so as the wild flowers around. See nobody take care of them but they survive. How much more for us when Somebody is taking care of us.

Peace to everyone and always be thankful of being here in this world.

I can’t remember the exact name of these yellow wild flowers. I have a book about wild flowers but I can’t find it right now.

Seeing the trees, valleys, grasses and all nature around makes me always relax and comfortable. I love nature!

Lovely Butterfly in the Wilderness

She keeps on flying and flying,
Finally, she landed on the grasses
and I have a wonderful glimpse of her.
Such a lovely butterfly in the wilderness.

taken one beautiful sunny summer in 2010 in Bavaria, Germany.

Beautiful Dahlia in our Garden

Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, perennial plants native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia. There are at least 36 species of dahlia, some like D. imperialis up to 10 metres tall. Dahlia hybrids are commonly grown as garden plants. The Aztecs gathered and cultivated the dahlia for food, ceremonies, as well as decorative purposes, and the long woody stem of one variety was used for small pipes.

Dahlias are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Angle Shades, Common Swift, Ghost Moth and Large Yellow Underwing. wikipedia.

the beautiful dahlia in our garden. sad to say, it did not survive the last cold winter.

Wet Gladiola in Our Garden

Here comes the rain,
and make our garden wet.
All the plants are happy,
As the rainwater drops.

taken last summer 2010 in our garden….guess i am always late in posting but better than nothing..love this plant..

Gladiolus (from Latin, the diminutive of gladius, a sword) is a genus of perennial bulbous flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae). Sometimes called the sword lily, the most widely used English common name for these plants is simply gladiolus (plural gladioli, gladioluses or sometimes gladiolas).

Home and Garden Improvements Still Going On

There are still a lot of home improvements that we need to do in our house. Our bathroom needs a total repair plus we need to install a new tilt and turn window. We are planning to replace our old kitchen set hopefully next year. In five years maybe, our roof needs a replacement also. We are just doing all these home improvements little by little when finances are available.

We are currently building a garden terrace and a carport or I would say a garage. Actually these two are adjacent to each other. We found this project a priority especially during winter time. Since we don’t have a garage it is very difficult for our two cars to stay outside in open air. Sometimes when you wake-up early in the morning during winter time, everything is already covered with snow. It needs more time and energy to clean it.

the digging started last April 2011. this area was before full of plants and flowers. This is where our garage and terrace will stand soon.

The highlight for this year’s home improvement is the terrace. I can’t wait to sit on a coffee table that I am planning to buy. Since the garden terrace is huge enough, probably around 30 square meters, I am also planning to put rustic garden furniture in there.

I was asking hubby if everything will be finished before my birthday comes in August. If not, it is still fine for me. Thanks to hubby for all the patience and diligence in working on it.
